Family Hike Among Fall Leaves Around Stark and Summit Counties | DeHOFF REALTORS

There's nothing like autumn in Ohio, as the leaves turn an array of red and golden hues. It's a perfect time to take your family on a hike. There are plenty of trails near Akron homes for sale where you can see the fall foliage, and our real estate agents can help you find the best places. Here are a few of our favorites.

  • Deep Lock Quarry Metro Park - 5779 Riverview Road, Peninsula, OH 44264
Deep Lock Quarry Metro Park has more than just great scenery. It also has a rich history. Originally a trail used by the area's indigenous peoples, it became a quarry for Berea sandstone in pioneer days. The later addition of a narrow gauge railroad then led to its becoming a "hobo jungle" during the Great Depression—an encampment for drifters and migrant workers. You can see all of these things, plus beautiful autumn leaves, on this moderate, 1.4-mile trail.

  • Munroe Falls Metro Park - 521 S. River Road, Munroe Falls, OH 44262
There are several trails in the Munroe Falls Metro Park area, each with different scenery. If you want a lake view, go to Firefly or Indian Spring Trails. There are plenty of trees to enjoy the fall colors. It's also a great place to bring the family, with picnic tables and a playground nearby. Or, if you want to bring your non-human family members, you can head to the pet-friendly Tallmadge Meadows area to hike Meadow Trail or the much shorter Meadow Loop Trail. Located near Monroe Falls homes for sale, all the trails have beautiful scenery in autumn or any season.

  • The Ledges - Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Peninsula, OH 44264
If you're interested in geology, The Ledges is a great hiking trail. The 1.8-mile trail follows the edge of the area's natural rock formations, which have stood for millions of years and provide some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. It's a relatively easy hike, with a clear trail and even stairs in certain places. There are several covered shelters along the way, plus plenty of parking. The Ledges Overlook provides a stunning view of the entire area, making it a great place to see the fall colors stretching out for miles.

  • Hoover Trail - 1325 E. Maple St., North Canton, OH 44720
If you want to experience some of Ohio's local wildlife, Hoover Trail is the perfect family outing. Located near North Canton homes for sale, it's home to everything from foxes and rabbits to hawks to groundhogs and more. The 5.4-mile trail is also stunning in fall, lined with trees that have shed their richly colored autumn leaves. The trail is mostly limestone, with some asphalt as well, making it perfect for jogging, biking, and other activities. Dogs are also allowed, provided you keep them on a leash and clean up after them.

  • Olde Muskingum Trail - 220 Cherry St. W, Canal Fulton, OH 44614
The area around Olde Muskingum Trail is great not just for hiking but for horseback riding as well. There are two separate trails: a limestone one for hiking and biking and a wider, compacted grass trail perfect for horses. Located near Canal Fulton homes for sale, it's a beautiful area full of vibrant fall colors, no matter how you explore it.

This is just a small sample of the vast, natural beauty of the Stark and Summit County areas. Contact us to get started finding your new Ohio home!
